For many beneficial reasons, we made a strategic decision to become more digital, where online examinations were a part of the agenda to continue to have a competitive offer to both students and teachers. With the decision made, we also noticed that pen and paper were inflexible and more time-consuming in comparison to digital methods and furthermore that our students were forced to travel to campus to do the examinations which we wanted to change.
For us, it was very important that we got a good connection with the people behind the software and furthermore that it was a platform that we felt comfortable with and that was easy to use. For a long time, I was responsible to introduce each class to online exams, meaning that the platform had to be easy to implement and use for this project to be successful. Even with quite limited resources, we were able to be up and running and doing exams within a month from signing the contract.
We have been using Digiexam since 2020. We started with just one paralegal class and since then, adoption has grown. Today, it is our primary examination tool for our 400 students and we use it for both regular examinations and exams that need online proctoring. This has become the norm for us now for these simple reasons:
“The turnaround time is much faster, we have decreased it by over 50% and today teachers are able to do it one week, maximum two.”

We have been able to decrease the usage of paper but more importantly, we are able to offer a better student experience with more flexibility for students to take the exams on-site or remote, with online proctoring. In terms of the student experience, we have also seen that students who have special needs, have made great improvements in regard to their results.

Furthermore, we save a lot of time, improve operational efficiency, and can put more focus on other projects which also help Påhlmans Handelsinstitut to improve as an institution. Our teachers who in some cases are consultants now have a process that is easily replicable and can be shared by multiple teachers at once as well as the collaborative question banks we have built up.
